Great service with some tasty food. With no real dinner plans I found OpenEats and thought I'd give it a try. I was immediately greeted and seated by Alex and took in the cozy/casual vibe of the place. Little touches like the free gourmet popcorn while you make up your mind on a dish go a long way.

Amazing experience. We’ve lived in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver and this was one of the best all-around restaurant experiences we’ve had. Perfect balance between friendly, relaxed service/ atmosphere and top shelf flavours and technique. Might have been the best beef dish I’ve ever had (Braised beef with potato and vegetables for $28). I loathe beets and brussel sprouts but as accompaniment vegetables to this dish I actually enjoyed them, not just tolerated them. Dessert was excellent as well.

Very nice atmosphere and good service. The food comes out relatively quickly and looks amazing. Everything my parents and I had was delicious. It's a little on the expensive side, but definitely somewhere I'd go back to for the food.

If you want a five star dining experience with your server in a tux, this is not it. If you want very reasonably priced food relative to its quality this place is for you. I’ve seen other reviews describe it as hipster - having suffered through the pretentiousness of overpriced yuppie Vancouver and Toronto hipster restaurants, I can assure you this place is not hipster. The food is authentic, as are the people that own and work at Open Eats, will be back 100%

I had the braised beef with an Oyster to start. The Oyster was top notch and I was pleased with the option that I could order just one.

We keep trying new restaurants everywhere we go because for every ten mediocre or poor experiences we do manage to find a place like this.

Young hipster vibe but the wait staff is very friendly and earnest(Canadian instead of the lazy US hipsters). The hyper fresh salad greens were unique and nothing I had seen in a plastic clam shell from a store before.. so I found that impressive. The main course portions are larger than they should be, you will not leave hungry but you aren't going to be able to contemplate desserts. Although the dessert menu is sparse so maybe they want to knock you out with the main course. I had the carbonara pasta(slightly sweet) and my wife had the hamburger (smoked so it had a finish that that tasted of pepperoni... Very good because we like that flavor). It has a fun atmosphere. A very unique experience that reminds me of the Mercury Cafe or the Watercourse in Denver but more inviting since OpenEats isn't the vegan.
